MJ Equestrian Ridding Lessons

At MJ Equestrian, we understand that for young riders, their first experience with ponies can be a magical and memorable moment. That’s why we offer a special guided experience for children from the age of 5, where they can meet our cutest ponies and take their first steps towards horse riding.

Our excellent trained staff will provide guidance and support throughout the entire experience, ensuring the safety of both the children and the ponies. Children will learn about the pony, the gear, and important safety tips and tricks, as well as having the opportunity to take a short ride on the pony for the brave ones.

For children under 6 years old, we offer short guided sit-ups due to insurance reasons. Please contact our reception directly at bookings@mjequestrian.com for more information or to book a session. Our ponies are gentle and well-trained, and we ensure that every child has a safe and enjoyable experience during their first steps towards horse riding.

This information is required in order for MJ Equestrian to match you with our horses and provide experience matching in groups.

  • For safety and the welfare of our horses, the weight limit is set at 210lbs, 15 stone or 95kg.
  • Please provide experience level, weight and height during checkout per rider.
  • Child rates apply up to 12 yr. (please note we can only accept riders from the age of 6 years, for the riders younger then 6 years we can offer pony sit-ups and grooming lesson.
  • Please arrive 15 mins before the start of your ride to allow time to book in and to fit riding gear. Mounting and dismounting are included in the ride time. Please note with late arrival, bookings cannot be extended.
  • Pictures or videos are not allowed to be taken whilst on a trail ride, lesson or the equestrian centre by the rider. The trails guide can be asked to take photos if safe to do so.
  • Please read our general terms and conditions during checkout before booking.
  • As the horses/ponies are tacked up in preparation for each trail ride/lesson in advance, it is very important that cancellation is done through the Equestrian Centre office directly. All trail rides and private lessons operate on a 24 hour cancellation policy. Less than 24 hours will require the full amount to be paid.
